Cambridge: A renowned 98-year-old physicist, who abandoned her PhD 75 years ago for the sake of her family, has been awarded an honorary doctorate by her university.

In 1948, Rosemary Fuller’s research at Bristol University paved the way for significant discoveries, potentially redefining the laws of physics. Her discovery of kaon particles revolutionized particle physics theory and was later validated by discoveries like the Higgs boson at CERN in Geneva.

However, Dr. Fuller decided to leave her studies in 1949 after marrying fellow physicist Peter Fuller.

In a private graduation ceremony, Bristol University Chancellor and Nobel Laureate Sir Paul Nurse honored her with an honorary Doctor of Science degree.
