Woman Despondent Over Paying Operation Money Towards Electricity Bill Jumps into Canal in Gujranwala
Gujranwala – A tragic incident occurred on Maki Road in Gujranwala where a woman, overwhelmed by despair after using her hernia operation savings to pay an electricity bill, jumped into a canal. CCTV footage of the incident has surfaced, showing the woman’s daughter trying to save her, but the mother leaped into the canal.
Rescue officials have reported that the woman went missing after drowning, and a rescue operation is currently underway to locate her.
According to her son, Usman, the electricity bill for July amounted to 10,000 rupees. The family had to use the money saved for his mother’s hernia operation to pay this bill. Usman stated that his mother was distressed over this situation, leading her to take the drastic step of jumping into the canal.
