Electricity Rates in Karachi Likely to Increase by Rs. 5.45 per Unit

Karachi’s electricity rates may rise by Rs. 5.45 per unit, with NEPRA reviewing K-Electric’s fuel price adjustment request.

Karachi: The electricity price for Karachi is expected to increase by Rs. 5.45 per unit. K-Electric has submitted a request for a fuel price adjustment, seeking this increase for the months of May and June.

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) will hold a hearing today on K-Electric’s request and will make a final decision on the price hike after the hearing. According to the application, an increase of Rs. 2.53 per unit is requested for May, while an increase of Rs. 2.92 per unit is requested for June under the FCA.
