Iran: Hamas Leader Ismail Haniyeh Martyred Along with Bodyguard in Israeli Attack

Ismail Haniyeh was in Tehran to attend the Iranian President’s inauguration ceremony when he was targeted and martyred in an attack on his residence, according to Iranian TV.

International media reports that Iran’s Revolutionary Guard and Hamas have held Israel responsible for Haniyeh’s martyrdom, although Israel has neither confirmed nor denied the incident. However, Israeli media claimed that a missile was fired at 2 AM local time at the location in the heart of Tehran where Ismail Haniyeh and his bodyguard were staying.

Hamas also confirmed Haniyeh’s martyrdom on its social media account, stating that he was targeted at his residence in Iran, and his bodyguard was also killed in the attack.

Ismail Haniyeh was the head of Hamas’ political wing. Iran’s Revolutionary Guard has also confirmed his martyrdom.

According to Iranian media, he was targeted by Jewish agents, and an investigation into the attack has been initiated. Iranian authorities have stated that the findings of the assassination investigation will be made public soon.

The Palestinian resistance group Hamas reacted to the incident by stating that those responsible for the killing of Ismail Haniyeh will be punished. Hamas holds Israel accountable for the killing and warned that the situation will escalate further due to this act.
