An extremist group has threatened to block the release of ‘The Legend of Maula Jatt’ in India, calling fans of Fawad Khan “traitors.”

According to Indian media, the political group Nav Nirman Sena has vowed to prevent the screening of Pakistani films and ban Pakistani actors from working in Indian movies.

Ameya Kopekar, a leader of the group, issued a statement condemning the Indian film company’s decision to release the Pakistani film, calling it provocative. He warned that the group would follow the orders of Raj Thackeray, nephew of the late Bal Thackeray, known for his anti-Pakistan and anti-Muslim stance. Raj Thackeray has demanded a ban on the film in Indian theaters.

Starring Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan, Hamza Ali Abbasi, and Humaima Malick, ‘The Legend of Maula Jatt’ is set to release in India on October 2. The movie is a remake of the 1979 classic ‘Maula Jatt.’

This controversy is part of a larger issue that began years ago when Pakistani actors like Mahira Khan and Fawad Khan were suddenly told to stop working on Bollywood projects. While many in India’s film industry support this ban, some, like Pahlaj Nihalani, Chief of India’s Central Board of Film Certification, argue that banning Pakistani actors could lead to financial losses. He noted that directors like Karan Johar signed Pakistani artists during more peaceful times between the two countries, and it would be unfair to stop their films now.
