Ban on Social Media Use by Police Officers During Duty in Punjab

The IG  Punjab has imposed a ban on the use of social media by police officers during duty hours. Following directives from the Chief Minister’s Office, Punjab Police has been prohibited from using platforms like TikTok, Facebook, and other social media sites. Additionally, orders have been issued prohibiting the uploading of videos on social media platforms while in police uniform.

It has been observed that some police personnel, instead of performing their duties, are engaged in making TikTok videos. According to details, police authorities have stated that action will be taken against officers who upload videos while in uniform.

As per the notification, a large number of police officers and personnel have been using social media platforms, which will now be restricted. Videos of Punjab police officers and female personnel frequently go viral on social media.
