Bilawal Bhutto Zardari offered Sindh’s assistance to Punjab’s healthcare system, proposing to send key officials to help establish free medical facilities like those in Karachi.

Karachi: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has expressed his willingness to send Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and Sindh Health Minister Azra Pechuho to Punjab to assist in improving healthcare facilities there. He made this statement during the inauguration of two new wards and a CyberKnife unit at Jinnah Hospital, Karachi.

Bilawal highlighted that Sindh is home to some of the best hospitals in Pakistan, and he is ready to build similar hospitals in Lahore, where people can receive free medical treatment. He emphasized that the media often publishes negative news about Pakistan, ignoring the good governance in Sindh as demonstrated by the three major hospitals in the province.

He stated that the PPP is committed to serving the people of Sindh and that their work speaks for itself. “We don’t just make claims; we actually do the work,” he said, noting that the only CyberKnife surgery machine in Pakistan is located at Jinnah Hospital. This treatment, which costs $100,000 per session globally, is provided free of charge to Pakistani citizens thanks to a partnership between the Patient Aid Foundation and the Sindh government.

Bilawal also mentioned that while “PET scans” are paid services in other provinces, they are free in Sindh. He highlighted that the cancer department at Jinnah Hospital has been recognized as one of the top ten cancer treatment centers worldwide, with patients coming from 167 cities across Pakistan and 15 countries to receive treatment.

He suggested that during the next visit of the Prime Minister, he should be shown Jinnah Hospital, NICVD, and NICH to see the progress made. Bilawal expressed his desire to build similar hospitals in Lahore, so the people there can also benefit from free healthcare services. He added that efforts are being made to establish NICVD centers in Punjab and Balochistan as well.

Bilawal reiterated that the PPP is ready to send Murad Ali Shah and Azra Pechuho to Punjab to help establish healthcare facilities similar to those in Karachi, ensuring that the people of Lahore can also receive free medical care.
