DGISPR

In a press conference in Rawalpindi, DG ISPR Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif explained that a formal complaint was received against Faiz Hameed in the Top City case. The Ministry of Defense brought the case to the army, and the army’s self-accountability process is based on solid evidence.

He emphasized that the Pakistan Army is a national institution with no political agenda and does not support or oppose any political party. The case against Faiz Hameed shows that the army takes action without discrimination. He expressed hope that other institutions would also practice self-accountability and assured that national security will not be compromised. A safe Pakistan is the key to a strong Pakistan.

DG ISPR further clarified that the ISI reports to the Prime Minister, and the retired officer is accused of exceeding constitutional limits under political influence. He promised to share more details about Faiz Hameed’s case as they become available.

He highlighted that without a strong administrative system, the economy cannot grow. The army reduced its defense budget and paid 100 billion rupees in taxes and duties last year. In total, the army and its related institutions paid 360 billion rupees in taxes.

Regarding terrorism, DG ISPR stated that no part of the country is under terrorist control. The fight against terrorism is being conducted with a clear strategy, although there has been an increase in support for the group known as Fitanah Khawarij. Pakistan is also in contact with Afghanistan’s interim government.

In the past month, 421 operations were conducted, resulting in the deaths of 90 Khawarij terrorists. Over the last eight months, 193 officers and soldiers have been martyred. The fight against terrorism and Khawarij will continue, and successful intelligence operations in the Tirah Valley led to the deaths of 137 Khawarij terrorists and injuries to 14 others.

DG ISPR added that terrorists have carried out several attacks in Balochistan, targeting innocent civilians to disrupt the region’s progress. During clearance operations in Balochistan, 21 terrorists were killed. Terrorists aim to spread fear and prevent development.

He warned that if development does not occur, feelings of deprivation will increase. Terrorist backers are playing a dirty game by blaming the state, and terrorism in Balochistan is part of a foreign-funded plot. The terrorists have no connection to humanity or Baloch traditions, and they, along with their supporters, will be dealt with firmly.

Finally, DG ISPR said that Balochistan is the heart and pride of Pakistan. Because of its large area, Balochistan faces challenges, but terrorists are exploiting feelings of deprivation, state oppression, and lack of representation in the region.
