Former ISI Chief Lt. Gen. (Retd) Faiz Hameed has been taken into military custody, with court-martial proceedings initiated against him for violating the Pakistan Army Act after retirement.

Rawalpindi: The Pakistan Army has taken former DG ISI, Lt. Gen. (Retd) Faiz Hameed, into military custody and initiated court-martial proceedings against him. According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Supreme Court of Pakistan ordered a thorough investigation by the military into complaints against Lt. Gen. (Retd) in the Top City case. Following the investigation, appropriate disciplinary action under the Pakistan Army Act has been initiated against him.

The ISPR further stated that after his retirement, Gen. (Retd) violated the Pakistan Army Act on multiple occasions, leading to the commencement of Field General Court Martial proceedings. Lt. Gen. (Retd) Faiz Hameed is now in military custody.

The ISPR also noted that several senior officers have previously faced severe penalties for violating Army rules and the Code of Conduct, and the legal action against Lt. Gen. (Retd) Faiz Hameed is part of this ongoing process.

It is worth noting that both the Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) and the Pakistan Peoples Party have repeatedly accused Gen. Faiz Hameed of providing political advantages to Imran Khan. In a public rally, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari even remarked that Imran Khan wanted to be “Faiz-yaab” (benefit from Faiz) once again.
